- [This feature class contains the location of "Agricultural Enterprise Areas" (AEAs) in Wisconsin in 2019. This feature class was created by DATCP by standardizing and aggregating data submitted by counties as part of the AEA petition process. The AEA petition process occurs annually, so this feature class is updated annually as new AEAs are approved. (URLs updated July 2016)].
- Purpose
- [This feature class contains the location of "Agricultural Enterprise Areas" (AEAs) in Wisconsin. Local communities can voluntarily pursue designation of an “agricultural enterprise area” (AEA) by submitting a petition to the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP). Through this designation, the community can encourage farmland preservation, continued agricultural production and investments in the agricultural economy. Farmers within designated AEAs are eligible to enter into voluntary farmland preservation agreements to collect the farmland preservation tax credits.
