Abstract
Wiscland 2 is a raster representation of the land cover throughout the state of Wisconsin as of 2016. The dataset is primarily derived from remote sensing imagery acquired by the Landsat 5, 7, and 8 satellites between 2010 and 2014. Land cover was classified via supervised classification at the native 30 m resolution. The map has a two acre minimum mapping unit, meaning that the smallest feature depicted in the map is approximately nine pixels in size. The land cover data are best utilized at approximate map scales of 1:48,000 to 1:500,000, and at no less than a 2 acre minimum mapping unit (MMU). Overall accuracy for the Level 2 classification is estimated at 86% across all classes. Purpose
The overarching goal of the Wiscland 2 project was to develop a detailed land cover dataset for the state of Wisconsin. The land cover data is particularly suitable for scientific applications and natural resources decision support at regional to statewide scales.

The act of distribution shall not constitute any such warranty, and no responsibility is assumed by the University in the use of this data, or related materials.[The Landsat imagery utilized in creating this product were acquired between 2010 and 2014. The data is therefore a “snap shot” of the ground cover present during that time. The data’s currency for a particular application should be judged accordingly. A 30-meter pixel size means that some narrow features, such as roadways and streams, may not be fully represented in the final product. Supplemental data, such as a vector road map, may be necessary to fully display those features.
