There are more than 7,000 miles of state-maintained roads on the NHS and 4,092 bridges on the NHS. The department's focus on the NHS is due in large part to new federal performance rules that require state departments of transportation to prioritize the condition of the NHS system. New federal performance measures were developed as a way to, "increase the accountability and transparency of the federal-aid highway program and provides for a framework to support improved investment decision making through a focus on performance outcomes for key national transportation goals." Through IDOT's MYP, the department strives to provide details on the plan's funding, process, and proposed projects and initiatives that will preserve, maintain, improve, and expand Illinois' system. It is IDOT's expectation that these efforts continue to provide Illinois with safe, reliable, and accessible travel and freight options.</dc:description><dc:format>ArcGIS DynamicMapLayer</dc:format><dc:identifier>https://hub.arcgis.com/datasets/1de9e21950404187a1e01dd1a4dde2a4_4</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:publisher>Illinois DOT Open Data Portal</dc:publisher><dc:rights>Public</dc:rights><dc:title>Multi-Year Program - Roadway 2025 [Illinois]</dc:title><dc:type>Web services</dc:type><dc:coverage>Illinois</dc:coverage><dc:date>2025</dc:date></oai_dc:dc>
