City of PhiladelphiaView metadata for key information about this dataset. This data contains locations of Philadelphia Water Department Utility Assets. Its accuracy varies by location. Most of the data is accurate to +/- 1 ft based on the Construction As-Built Drawings it was digitized from. Some areas such as the Philadelphia Naval Business District (Navy Yard) or the Airport are not nearly as accurate, as they were derived from other sources. These sources include but are not limited to: old navy construction documents, field surveys, various conflicting maps both digital and paper. The data took three years to create and it is maintained daily by PWD GIS UNIT. The new maintenance edits are of higher spatial accuracy as GPS equipment is available for field surveys.
