New Jersey Highlands CouncilManaging development activities in carbonate rock areas is necessary to address the potential problems common in karst landscapes. The site assessment and design process can be modified for karst areas to allow applicants, municipalities and the Council to identify any karst concerns at a site and to incorporate appropriate design features in order to minimize future sinkhole (or other karst feature) formation, damage to development, and the potential for ground water contamination. The selection query was designed by the New Jersey Highlands Council. Please note that the layer does not include all the carbonate rock types present in the area.
