The dataset represents a 'top down' mapping perspective in which tree canopy over hanging other features is assigned to the tree canopy class. At the time of its creation this dataset represents the most detailed and accurate land cover dataset for the area. This assessment was completed by the University of Vermont's Spatial Analysis Laboratory with funding the USDA Forest Service Northern Research Station. The methods used were developed by the University of Vermont Spatial Analysis Laboratory with funding from the USDA Forest Service. Tree canopy assessments have been conducted for numerous communities throughout the U.S. where the results have been instrumental in helping to establishing tree canopy goals. Data is available for the entire 10-County Study Area as an ERDAS Imagine Raster File, or as GeoTIFFs divided into four geographies: the Indiana counties, CMAP North (Lake and McHenry), CMAP Central (Kane, partial DuPage, partial Cook), and CMAP South (Kendall, Will, partial DuPage, partial Cook).</dc:description><dc:format>Imagery</dc:format><dc:identifier>https://datahub.cmap.illinois.gov/dataset/0e442f3a-a4e8-44f1-b8be-cbcd69ef2c44</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:publisher>CMAP (Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning) Data Hub</dc:publisher><dc:rights>Public</dc:rights><dc:title>High-Resolution Land Cover, NE Illinois and NW Indiana: Chicago, 2010</dc:title><dc:type>Imagery</dc:type><dc:type>Web services</dc:type><dc:coverage>Illinois</dc:coverage><dc:date>2010</dc:date></oai_dc:dc>
