Relief and vegetation shown pictorially.; South polar view map originally published by H. Hondius in 1642. This Jansson's re-issue shows Tasman's 1642 and 1644 discoveries in Van Diemen's Land, omitting the title cartouche to show Nova Zeelandia. In Jansson's Atlantis Majoris, Amsterdam 1658-59.; The inscription 'Nova Hollandia detect Anno 1644' refers to Tasman's second voyage.; I. de Diego Ramires repositioned so that Tierra del Fuego may be enlarged to 'Magellanica'; Cape Horn shown.; Corners contain native scenes, including animals, birds, boats and a representation of a penguin.; On verso: Polus Antarcticus cum regionibus subjacentibus et maribus illum alluentibus. In Latin, black type, 2 column text with ornate initial and printed marginal headings.
