These units represent areas where local restoration projects are likely to experience similar impacts. These units are more representative for the ABFS compared with USGS watershed boundaries (HUCs). The USGS watershed approach is dependent on elevation and drainage areas, which are not accurate in low relief floodplains like the ABFS. These units were developed in 2011 by the US Army Corps of Engineers Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) for use by the Louisiana Dept. of Natural Resources when that Department had purview over the Atchafalaya Basin Program. These data are being republished here to assist the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) as they work to develop updated Atchafalaya Basin Master Plans. The assessment units were originally based on the USACE Water Management Units (WMUs). Those same polygons are refined here and also subdivided into smaller units more reflective of the potential impact areas.</dc:description><dc:format>ArcGIS FeatureLayer</dc:format><dc:identifier>https://hub.arcgis.com/datasets/095091956afd4763b4e9474371f1fb66_0</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:publisher>U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Open Data</dc:publisher><dc:rights>Public</dc:rights><dc:title>ABFS - Assessment Units (AUs) [United States]</dc:title><dc:type>Web services</dc:type><dc:coverage>United States</dc:coverage><dc:date>Last Modified: 2024-11-05</dc:date></oai_dc:dc>
