Michigan Department of Natural ResourcesThis data is a qualitative assessment of damage to stands from the 2025 Ice Storm. Damage severity was assigned based on the amount of individual tree damage observed and how much of the stand contained different levels of that damage. The categories were established to help determine if a salvage harvest was necessary, and if so what type of harvest that would be. Different cover types in varying conditions are assessed with different guidance based on numerous variables that help determine the severity of damage. Salvage operations are communicated through the treatments layer and are not illustrated in this layer. This data is not a complete assessment of all impacted areas. Field assessments are ongoing.
