Who we are

This Big Ten Academic Alliance Geospatial Information Network (BTAA-GIN) is collectively managed by librarians and geospatial specialists from fourteen universities in the Big Ten Academic Alliance.

What we do

    • connect scholars across the Big Ten Academic Alliance to geospatial resources

    • support the creation and aggregation of discovery-focused geospatial metadata

    • provide the technology project staffing and infrastructure to build and host a geoportal

    • actively participate in the development of open source geospatial technology and infrastructure

    • contribute to the Big Ten Academic Alliance by sharing expertise, leveraging campus resources, and collaborating on innovative programs

The BTAA Geoportal

    • connects users to digital geospatial resources, including GIS datasets, web services, and digitized historical maps from multiple data clearinghouses and library catalogs

    • saves researcher time by centralizing regional geospatial data discovery into a single interface

    • provides discovery for the most up-to-date resources

    • allows users to search by What, Where, and When, without needing to know Who or Why
